Tonight I acquired 3 interesting new coins! This one is my favorite, minted for the 1964 Olympics in Japan. The design shows Mount Fuji and is very pretty. It has a lot of luster. The following two I acquired for slightly under melt value, and they're nice looking coins to boot, so I certainly have nothing to complain about:
Is that a 1943 (S) Australia Florin? Edit...Just answered my own question. It doesn't appear to be as there is no S above the date.
You are correct, this is not the one minted in San Francisco. I would like to get one of those as well someday, though.
I have a 1942D and 1944S Threepence and a 1944 ( D I believe) Shilling coming in. All are circulated from Australia and sold at melt value. All US minted Also picked up a 1946 Australia Florin. Will post photos once in hand.
This arrived from Poland today. I purchased it with part of the $100 in Ebay money given to me by my co-workers at my retirement party last month. I miss all my associates. This is a 2008 1.5 Euro from France. The coin commemorates the 150th Anniversary of Franco-Japanese Relations. The obverse shows the Eiffel Tower and a Kimono. The reverse features Delacroix's "La Liberte". I fell in love with this coin as soon as I saw it. Sorry about the camera glare. France 2008 1.5 Euro Proof Mintage 4,873 This coin was a gift from the seller from Poland. It is a reminder to vote in the 1989 elections. This was the closest thing to a free election in Poland since 1928. Poland 2009 2 Zlote Mintage 1,300,000
Wife and I went by the Show in Grapevine TX today. Place was packed, busiest I have ever seen it. I only picked up a few German 5 and 10 Marks for my Eagle collection. Dealer was eager to sell. He had entire inventory marked down 50% off which meant I was able to pay a realistic price. Cherry picked 2 of the 10 Marks since he had them marked and priced as 0.6250 Silver instead of the actual .09250 Silver. Not a lot of difference but it amounted to a little more than the ASW of 1 extra coin free. I didn't catch the hairlines on the 5 Mark until I got it home and removed from the flip. Not to worry, it only cost me $2.
