Kazakhstan has an interesting space series. The inner ring is made from tantalum and the rest of the coin is silver. The series began in 2006 and the mintages were 4,000. From 2011 to 2013 the mintages were bumped up to 5,000 and then they went down to 3,000 in 2014 and 2015. I bought my 2009 example for around $90 but the prices for these coins have fallen into the $40-$60 range (besides some of the early dates). Part of the decrease was due to Kazakhstan experiencing high inflation (so the USD became stronger and it is now relatively cheaper to buy these compared to when I picked up my example). Here is some additional info from the mint (until the 2012 coin) http://www.nationalbank.kz/?docid=432&switch=english
Those are nice coins !!! Thank you for posting. They remind me a lot of my Marshall Islands set. But this set has a mintage of 25,000
I dont know if this will count, but I have a 1983 Jersey Islands Frosted Proof Set. They only made 5,000 of these sets. The set is all Sterling Silver.
I don't normally care for cooks island coinage, but this one was cheep... like under melt price... and I thought the reverse was pretty cool. Cooks Island, 1996, $10, Mintage 10,000 .925 silver, proof
I have about 20 of the Cook Island explorer series which I bought below spot (as it was at the time). Not sure what the mintage was as it is not listed in Krause but I bet it was pretty low. Each is about 2/3 oz sterling silver. I will not attach them all, but here are a few of them.
I have the whole series of this next coin, 1973-1979, Huge hunks of silver Liberia, 1977, $5, Mintage 1,857, 42mm, .900 Silver, proof And this one is not silver, but I like the design. Liberia, 1979, 2 Cent, Mintage 1,857,
. Here is a few from Haiti, beautiful toning on these. Haiti, 1973, 50 Gourdes, Mintage 5,973, 38.14mm, .925 silver, Proof Haiti, 1973, 50 Gourdes, Mintage 5,853, 38.14mm, .925 silver, Proof Haiti, 1973, 25 Gourdes, Mintage 5,470, .925 silver, Proof Haiti, 1973, 25 Gourdes, Mintage 6,430, .925 silver, Proof
So, whats up with all the coins missing mintage info, in Krause? Does the mints not know how many they made? I have several coins myself that the mintage is unknown.
Steve66, I'm not sure why no mintages UNK. But that right, in the 2010 SCWC 37th edition, 1901-2000. I will try to look at a later edition Friday and see if mintages figures are in it.
Thanks @u812? I wasn't questioning sakata's post, I was just wondering why there are so many coins in the catalog with no mintages. I have the 2015 edition, and their missing in it too
It is subscription only to get details. Otherwise all you can see is a list of coins. http://www.numismaster.com
sakata, kind sir, may I borrow some of your signature to put in my signature? I think you will find it humorous.
