Paper Money: New Acquisitions

I got this last night. 10 lire italy 1935 Victor Emanuel III. I wasn't really excited to buy it when i saw it, but the date and country made the decision. When back home, I looked up the banknote and found that Victor Emanuel III was exiled to Alexandria Egypt and died and buried here. And there is a big square in alexandria carrying his name
Now i can't help but keep it in good hands

Thank you for trading as well, I appreciate the extra additions, the '81 filled a hole in my dollar bill year collection. Next time we trade I'll send some better examples of the world currency. I excluded that because it was some of the bring back currency I got on my mission there.

Very nice notes! It's pretty cool that the SNs are only 9 off yet two different series, mule and non mule. Nice variety!

 

Nice miscut on the first one. Did they cut these by hand with scissors? (I think I read that they did.)

 

Cool Scrip....love any note with a train vignette.

A train stopping at your town was a big deal back then.

Acquired via change at a dollar general. I need to use $20s for .53 worth of merchandise there more often! She's beat up, but the oldest I've pulled from circulation thus far. More than made up for the angel token they gave me as a quarter.

Edited to add...oops, a little blurry on the blow up. Still getting used to the quality settings in this collage app. It's a 1950E

 

These have been lying about in mylar holders for 25+ years and I decided it was time to protect them for future generation (aka the grandchildren)

So is it the R00 that tells you it is a replacement note?
I see the Brazil has a star.

 

As designated in the Mehilba World Replacement book: "Argentina replacement notes were first issued in 1955. They have an "R" prefix prior to the serial number."

Regarding Brazil: "Replacement notes of Brazil started in 1970. Replacement notes of 1970s are marked with an asterisk(*) suffix. All other replacement notes have an asterisk(*) as a prefix."
