    Happy 4th of July Everyone!!!

Great coins Eduard!!! Some great history there!!

These George Washington cents were made in England. Oh the irony. Here is a large eagle version that is a centre piece of my collection:

And here is my favorite Fugio, 8 pointed star var. Same obverse as Eduards. The design was created by Ben Franklin and is the first official US coin. Time Flies. Mind Your Business. We Are One.

Greetings Cucumber—I'm certain that American independence would never have happened without the help of France. Lafayette, Rochambeau, and thousands of French soldiers and sailors are national heroes here.

I've always liked the washington cents, just never could justify the cost of them.

    Happy July 4th!

I still collect US coins now and then. This is a recent find from our local coin show, one of my favorite US designs.

    1806 Half 1a.jpg

As a teenager I collected half dollars and was working on a complete type set, which I never managed to complete.

I recently picked up this beauty for only a small premium over the bullion value.

    1895 20 Dollar Gold 1a.jpg

You must have really felt the value of $20 back when these were circulating.

    Speaking of Independence Day,
I recently purchased this. Can anyone please tell me what it is? Is it a coin?

Thanks for the kind words @Deacon Ray
My thoughts too : I was visiting George Washington's house at Mount Vernon with my wife and kids in 2003, when relationship between France and USA were a bit on the coldish side, and while the guide there was showing the big key of the Bastille Lafayette had gifted Washington with, I allowed myself to interup her to say "whatever happens in modern politics, friendship between USA and France will ever be stronger". And I was glad to see visitors approving :)
