Hahahahaha oh gosh... yeah you would be best to check in the mainland, near the end of the month. When the rents due, people always be checking for change, including myself I would also say around night time, because thats when people go grocery shopping, On their way home from work.
I was in an Albertsons today. One of the reasons that store was a bust. But after paying I when over to the Coinstar. I saw stuff in the chute so I grabbed. 7 modern pennies, a 2015D nickel and a 2008 Mexican 1$. So I'm 12 cents richer than when I entered the store.
Your not going to find much. But if you want unusual coins, silver, and world coins, that's the place to go. If you are a treasure hunter like me, I am allllllways looking everywhere for something.
Oh I completely understand that. But of every time I've checked a Coinstar and saw nothing this was a revelation!
Had an incredibly lucky day today. Walked over to the Coinstar while grocery shopping and found Walking liberty quarter (date has faded) 1942 nickel 1965 quarter 2003 Canadian penny Elaut token The rest was all just modern coinage (nothing worth noting), but one thing that stood out was a real beaten South Dakota quarter. I thought it was a silver at first due to the dark color of it. Added all up, I had around three dollars in change. The reject slot was filled.
Guys it is a standing liberty quarter not walking liberty. I personally don't own one myself but I would love to own one. Walking liberty is the walking liberty half dollar.
Im thinking about trading all my crystals for some nice coins Hopefully ill be finding me some both standing and walking libertys
Maybe you will find one some day. The issue with Standing Liberties is that non-recessed dates come off very easily, but that's the only downside to finding one.
You should try checking the dirt cup, guys. I'll post a pic of all great my coinstar and cash register finds from this year so far, since it is about the halfway mark. http://imgur.com/IBdSCAJ
That is correct...there are methods to get to the dirt cup...and there are also things my girlfriend, sisters and I do, that most people wont because it might be seen as scroungy! But every silver I save is a piece of history that can be preserved...and I am not afraid to get dirty to save those coins!
Like kneeling down to pick coins, including the occasional silver dime out from under the machine or looking behind the machine when you can to find things like the Harrahs chip from an above post. Also can find coins on top of the machine, under the next door lottery machine etc. And the best part - the strange looks, some quite scornful - for what you are doing.
Yeah, I'm tall enough to reach the top, but I get self-conscious enough just cruising by and gawking at the reject bin. Plus, it ain't getting any easier to get down on the floor, much less get back up. (The floor is a long way down for some of us.)
It's better when they open the machine, because you can see everything on the ground and you get the added benefit of getting to search for large silver. I have been checking through TNet's older coinstar find threads, and someone found a 2 cent piece about 2 years ago. I've been finding all sorts of nice things because I purposely will go out of my way to Coinstar machines if I can rationalize it.
Reject tray find yesterday: 75 Silver dimes, mostly AU/UNC 63, 63-D, 64 & 64-D with a few more circulated 57 & 57-D. Coins from Belize & Mexico. 99 cents in common change.
I understand that not everybody pays as much attention to individual coins as we do here, but... $7.50 in the reject slot? Glad it fell into good hands!
