Uncut sheet of series 1935-E $1.00 silver certificates

Hey guy's, so I came across a very interesting item at my local b&m. It's unfortunately outside of my budget, but I've never seen one before. It's an uncut 16 subject sheet of series 1935-E $1.00 silver certificates. It's been graded by PCGS Currency as 64 and the top left note has a low serial number of 00000091. I did not get a chance to take a photo of it, I'll try to go back on Monday and get one. I'm just curious as to what something like that is worth and how scarce are they? I'm not much of a currency collector, but this sure looked really cool.

It appears that 400 sheets of 1935E $1's were released, though the number that are still intact today is probably somewhat smaller.

Some details don't add up, though. The 1935E sheets would be 18-subject (three across and six down), not 16-subject. Also, none of them used low serial numbers. Could you possibly have the series wrong? There was a printing of 1935D $1 sheets that included low serials....

 

I'd like to see a picture if you're able to get one. If you don't mind sharing, what were they asking?

I'm sure you are correct. I only glanced at it briefly in the dealers case. It is possible that it was an 18 subject sheet and I may be misremembering the actual series. I know it was 1935 and I know for certain the serial in the top left note was 0000009x I want to say it was a 91 but again, I could be wrong. Assuming they are open on Monday I will go in and see if I can take a photo of it.

The price on it was $2400.00

Ok, I was able to make it in before close today. I was kinda surprised they were open. It's a series 1935D 18 subject uncut sheet. They have it marked at $2800.00. Here are a couple shots I could get. They were through the glass display case.

 

That's awesome! So, does anyone know if the ask price is reasonable or not? I've never seen one of these.

 

Is it $2800 or $2400?
The paper is not PPQ (orEPQ) but Choice New. Also, a repair has been made as
is noted on the grade.
This is a difficult item to price. If it was only 1 choice 1935 SC note, that would be easy. But an uncut sheet, you would have to check auction results for similar items.
at 2800 that's over 150 a note which I would not pay. But someone will want to hang this on their wall. At 2400 we are down to 133. Still too high for me. Are they really worth that much more because they are uncut? IMO anything over $1800 is too much.
It's always a question of how bad do you want it? And can you afford it.
Also, this is in a retail shop. How much did the dealer pay for it? ($1200? $1500?) While they are entitled to make a profit, I wouldn't want to pay more than 30% premium over what they paid for it. I'm just cheap.

Heritage has a sheet of 1935 PPQ North Africa SC's which I am sure will go for much more.

Although I'm not sure where the market's at now compared to then, the $2,800 ask price would seem high, especially with the Apparent designation.

Plus, I'd have one **** of a time fitting that in a safe deposit box!

I knew the North Africa would be high.
But I think the sheet in question, the prices seem fair. I realize 2004 is a long time ago but the market has been completely soft since then.

 

I believe the sheet is a bit overpriced, especially with an Apparent 64 (no PPQ) grade. Here is a page of similar Fr.1613N sheets from the Heritage Auction archives.

Most, if not all dealers and local coin shops leave a little wiggle room in their pricing for negotiated offers.

 

jtlee321, with all being said and done, what is a local b&m? Could it be bread & money, bank & mayonnaise, boy & man, bum & mare, blank & maritime.....what?? Is it something so bad that it can not be spelled out on-line?

 

B&M is simply a brick and mortar shop or a local physical shop. It's nothing secret, it's fairly common to use the term online.

$2800.00 is a little steep for me, but they always are willing to negotiate. Sometimes much better than I anticipate. I found this piece very interesting and was seeking more information on it. I appreciate all feedback you guys have given.

Excuse me? What other ones do I have on here that are dumb as dirt? What is your issue? That you don't understand commonly used terms? Or are you talking about some people are dumb as dirt on here?
