That's the point that I was trying to make. Hopefully, something good will come out of all of this.

I'll supply the Kraut and Burritos. Eat them the night before with a 12 pack of beer.

This could be a dangerous mission Roto. Poisonous gas could come in handy!

Time to hit other auction sites

For what it's worth I just posted this on the Overstock forum. Abon does a LOT of business there.

"Some very intersting developments have taken place on the REALLY BIG auction site.
As of today only five TPGs (Third Party Grading services) are recognized as legitimate. This policy will need tweaking but the bottom line is this.
They have come to realize that people are being ripped off on a daily basis.

It borders on fraud, in my opinion, and enough was stated by people like myself to help them make this decision.

Overstock needs to seriously look at this decision and follow that lead in some fashion. Of course money is the bottom line here and I'm sure Ostock does not want to lose the revenue. That's what business is about.

On the other hand Overstock is still "small" enough to implement such a policy, gain respect and reap further rewards in the future for being known as a TRULY safe place to do business.

The current guidelines are all "lip service' as it were. Time for some people to wake up and make it a REALITY.

    Well,

I still haven't heard anything back from 7 of the 9 ANA officials who received my initial e-mail.

The e-mail I received and posted from the ANA president states that requests were sent out to 11 grading companies, but doesn't state who those were.

I have written back to the ANA president in a reply asking if SGS received such a request from the ANA. That was 3 days ago and I still haven't received a response.

As a collector who is fairly new to the hobby I find it very disturbing indeed that SGS may have received such a request "to be the exclusive grading services for the American Numismatic Association".

What is a newbie to think of the ANA if this is true? As a new collector myself, I've known of the distain and bad reputation of SGS as a "so called grading company", which they ARE NOT! How can the officials of the ANA come to such a decision to include the likes of SGS? What does that say about the ethics the organization to even consider including entities that are KNOWN in the hobby to be a self slabbing entity. Before the ANA made any such requests for this honor they should have set criteria that should have removed any consideration for the likes of SGS and others who should not have been considered.

If the ANA did send a request to SGS, I believe there is nothing the ANA can do regarding the note on the SGS web site. The damage is done and any newbie finding the SGS web site and reading it will be EXTREMELY MISLEAD!

    Silver Striker,

    Don't lose sleep over this.
I think we can be fairly certain after all of the posts here that the ANA probably DID send a request to SGS.
I'm also thinking they did so to avoid SGS getting in a tizzy over NOT being asked.

Although I'm not an ANA member they are most likely just going through the motions in order to reject SGS but also be able to say "we gave you a fair shot".

Is SGS being misleading on their site? Probably so - that's what they do. Will they still rip off newbies. Probably so again but I think the numbers will drop.
They are feeling a little heat right now I believe. We just need to keep cool on our end while keeping the heat cranked.
