Ever since the Washington dollars have come out. I have been sending two rolls of P mints to a fellow on this forum that lives in Wisconsin, and he has been mailing two rolls of D mints to me. It's been working out real well. Is anyone else doing this sort of thing?
Yes, I'm in New Jersey and I've been trading with a partner in Washington state. We've traded for two cycles (Adams and Jefferson). . It's worked out very well.
I've done with with differnt guys for a few years now---postage really isn't that bad if you use the flat rate envelops that the post office has. I can normaly send about $100 worth of quarters for under $6. I use to always put insurance but a guy told me that since the mint was still minting the coins at the time I was mailing them that they couldn't be called collectables so they wouldn't be covered by the insurance...I don't think that was true but I've never lost a box yet. I have had the rolls busted open but never lost a single coin! Speedy
With the possible exception of a few banks located near the boundaries of armored car service areas, a specific bank branch will always receive coins from the same mint. For folks who want to collect rolls of each date/mintmark combination, exchanges are far and away the cheapest route. Postage is generally less than a dealer's markup would be.
I rarely ever see any "D' coins here in central NY and if I do they are pretty banged up. EDITED--Please no offers to trade/buy/sell in this forum.
Guys, Just a friendly reminder. Please do NOT offer to trade/buy/sell rolls to each other here in this thread. That is what the OPEN forum is for. Today alone there has been about 3+ offers to trade rolls made here at CT outside of the OPEN forum. While some of ya'll might be new and just didn't know the rules you need to take this as a lesson. When posting here on CT please remember the rules and please follow them. Speedy
