deemed "non lamination" to me I think it is

It is not a die crack - period.

See the raised flap of metal
at the middle bar of the'E',
and also just to the right of the
    'M' of Unum.

    A decent, though no major,
    example of a laminated planchet.

That is a reasonable and very likely interpretation of the "monet" image of that coin supplied by the OP, period.

    https://www.cointalk.com/attachments/img_0326-jpg.643000/

Here is one, taken by an iPhone and supplied by a poster that isn't clowning with a dirty lens camera, that you can actually see with 100% certainty what it is, period.

The title implied it. Someone must of told him it was not so he is asking for our opinion.

It is possible and likely you are kinder and more tolerant than I am. For somebody to insist on knowingly posting greased over lens pictures with all manners of justification for being disadvantaged etc, kinda has me being objectively more skeptical of and indifferent to any content that goes along with it.

That may sound harsh, but, consider the ip4 pic I posted compared to his time wasting pix, and his acknowledgment that his lens is indeed dirty.

    Who does things like that?

    Just consider it is all.

    Lamination, thru a clear lens,
    or a dirty lens.

This isn't only harsh, it's indicative of a lack of understanding of what laminations look like vs. die cracks in digital imaging. The pics do not have to be any better to be unequivocal about what's being shown. It's a lamination.

I respectfully dissent saying baloney and if you consider that the OP's picture is anything like reasonable "digital imaging" (may as well coat the lens with crisco) then you are quite liberal with your ideas of digital photography.

I certainly know what lamination looks like just as I do die cracks on dirty coins. I'm not saying it is a die crack, I'm saying the picture fails.

Just because it's almost 100% certain to be a lamination doesn't mean that low contrast and fuzzy digital thing conclusively reveals it. It doesn't and I've no idea why anyone rational would disagree with that premise.

Just compare the OP image to the one I linked in this thread from another here.

It is a very reasonable and honest premise, unlike implying I don't know what a lamination looks like or don't understand digital photography in the narrow and specific area of anvil simple lamination or die cracks.

    Really?

@Tyler Graton can you please provide new sharper close up pictures of the area in question. Make sure your lens is clean. Just to end a certain discussion.
    Thanks buddy!

It's a very reasonable, honest and completely tone-deaf premise. You build nothing with it, merely tear things down. I hope that the poster of those images will not pay a whit of attention to your opinions in the future, because you plainly prefer antagonism to teaching.

Personally, I'd rather build from what he has posted - and there's plenty of good to build upon - instead of just denigrating his work. Like I've been doing with numismatic photography for more than a decade now. Teaching is about change, not destruction.

Absolutely, Tyler has been posting pix under the pretense of being earnest while his camera lens is obviously dirty. Again, you keep your irrational prejudice and wrong opinion, if he fixes it and ups his game, he has learned something.

I'm not denigrating him, he's young and may not actually know better or is simply lazy! The fact none of you call anyone out for such provides them zero reason to do better. However, you should know better and teach him with your methods, since you don't like mine which has no pretense or molly coddling whatsoever, that don't include giving a pass for such an obvious rudimentary blunder. ;-)

    Thanks for your consideration.

    Good day!

We don't "call people out" for it because that's not how civilized people treat each other.

So you say............ according to that logic, I must be a savage for "calling you out" for continually ignoring crappy pix from somebody that may actually not have known better, while trying to justify exactly that in calling me out. I'm ok with that although I disagree with your irrational prejudice.

    "You mock me, sir?

    Mock you, sir?

Mock me not, sir. No man mocks me, sir.

The wise man mocks the man.

The mocked man mocks the mocker.

    Right.

    Good."

Now I take leave of this thread. :)

Smh... I thought we already answered the question...? Thanks to you guys I had to go spend 50 bucks to get my dog gone phone fixed cause you guys won't stfu bout this stupid picture crap. Broke my damn phone cause I took it apart and the tutorial for the iPhone 5 is VERY different from iPhone 5s (what I have, of course). When I got the screen off, didn't realize there were two connections holding the damn screen together. Broke those connections. Figures. Cause I really had 50 bucks to spend right now. Thanks a lot guys. I guess the pictures are better but I still got answers that were correct so idk why I needed to even go through this. Basically spent 50 bucks to shut you guys up. I better never hear the words "take a better picture" i swear, you guys.... smh. Watch I'm gonna still hear you guys cry. Waaaaa waaaaa pictures waaaaa glasses. Waaa my eyes suck waaaaaaa lol

    "He might learn something"
Got that right. Learned that you guys are too smart for your own good. I learned today that no matter what technology you buy (I just got this phone in April and it's already got dust in it like it's been used for years) that all technology is starting to suck more and more and they deliberately design things with flaws, and when the people try to fix it, they make it nearly impossible to fix without messing it up even more and having to come back to fix it. I remember there was a time where you could do things yourself 9 times out of 10. Now, they make it impossible without the specific walk thru

Well.. I said from the beginning that it was a Lamination. Even Fred Weinberg said it was a Lamination. I never asked you to dismantle your phone. I just simply said to try and take a better picture since some fool was stating that your lens was dirty.
I apologize for everything that you had to go through.

    Peace :angelic:

I am more talking to ordinary fool about that but it was also the product of everyone asking me for a better picture and I didn't realize my brand new phone was just dirty inside already till we started talking about my camera lense. And honestly I am just sick of hearing it so I figured I "fix it" but yes you said at the beginning that it's a lamination error. But then when pp wanted better pics (like usual) you started to ask for better pic s too for whatever reason... it's alright. You guys got your better pics. Too bad you guys didn't have to pay for it. Not your fault really, but I wouldn't have done all this.

I'm genuinely sorry to hear of this, Tyler, but I don't think the board in general is to blame as most comments seem to have been made in response to a certain someone's incessant and petty nonsense. It's a fine example of why some should simply keep their mouth shut, and how many would be the better for it.

Your photos are/were not that bad, especially compared to what what is posted here almost every day. You've come a long way in a short period of time; keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot for this comment. I appreciate it, a lot.. I shouldn't be blaming anyone, I know that I am to blame for my own doing. Technically I broke my own phone (not them) but I sure wouldn't have done it if I wasn't tired of hearing about my pictures. But yeah I thought too that my pictures were better than a lot of peoples on here too haha. And yes they should stop sounding like a broken record. But thank you for this again. I am glad someone see's me :)

Tyler, Did not see anything lacking with your posted photos. Or any of them so far.
If one poster calls you out on your post, skip it. If three do then you may want to think twice about it.
And most inportantly, Do not argue with an ordinary fool, lest you become one yourself.
