I picked up this Hadrian Neptune today. Always wanted one and it seems like they come in either crappy or very nice condition (much like the Diana type, also on my list). This one is right in between crappy and nice, and thus very much in my budget. Honestly I cant imagine it didn't go for more. Really was a bargain in my mind. BTW, its only the third coin I have bought for myself this year! Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ Sestertius (32mm, 25.59 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck circa AD 124-128. Laureate bust right, slight drapery / Neptune standing left, right foot set on prow, mantel on thigh, holding acrostolium and trident. RIC II 635; Banti 172. Fine, brown patina. Ex Pegasi XV (24 October 2006), lot 442, $305
I dont mind worn or otherwise flawed coins. Just that they have eye appeal (at least appeal to me, anyway!).
Great buy, I remember looking at that one a day before auction closed and thought somebodies going to get a bargain with that one, would have bid myself except got one.
