I finally got a chance to get some better pictures of this coin. Thoughts on grade? Pictures came out surprisingly well for an iPad.
Rub down leg, hits across chest and right obv = MS-64, FH. Edit: Wait, this is a GTG! It's already slabbed by professional graders. Hope you tell us what you think the coin grades at the end of this!
Bad reverse picture, shaky camera?, or else it is an unattributed DDR. Heck, looks like DDO too, also unattributed. I'll pass on guessing. If I'm wrong about your pix, my guess about the grade won't be. Nice SLQ.
Is what appears to be doubling, real, or a shaky ipad? I am asking you if this is a faithful digital rendering of what the coin actually looks like, to that level of detail. Good crisp pix don't require a 5000 50MP Cannon.
@TypeCoin971793 IMO, your photos are terrific. If someone sees the light reflection around the letters as a DDR...well...
It looks like a nice SLQ. I would guess MS-63FH. It has good luster, a bit of friction down Liberty's right leg and a few contact marks on the obverse and reverse. Edit, I agree you images are very good for this type of exercise.
Everyone knows you are certainly a photographic expert, yeah, just light reflections, that's what they are and DDO too.
I tried to look up your date of birth with no luck. That's probably a good thing as I have to control my snarky posts. I'll just say that I have been looking at actual coins and magnified images of them for a very long time. BTW, to the best of my knowledge, there is only one DDR for this coin and I discovered and published it decades ago. However, my interest is piqued and when I get the time I shall see if more have been found since then that are not tricks of lighting, fuzzy photos, or strike doubling. PS Welcome to Coin Talk!
I'm only aware of one for the 1971 D, and this isn't that coin. However, this one appears to be DDR and DDO so technically, you discovered it too.
I'm so glad you don't practice medicine ... "sorry we defiantly need to Amputate your right leg," "BUT" it's possible that it's just an ingrown toe nail.
I'm seeing a semi-easy 65 on technical merit aside the major gouge across the breast. I know it's not physically large, but it could not be in a more prominent area and to my mind - with an SLQ - it might be worth two grades from the low-end 65 it is otherwise. I don't think it Full Head. A little too flat in the hair. Call it 64 in the slab, and a big high-end 63 in my book. Serious luster, hard strike, and a well-chosen coin.
