I believe that this is the auction he is referring to item #110168337404. I cannot post a link to it that will work
I got on it fine...4 days left..up to $20. for 300 pennies 1918-1950 something. I seem to believe the woman...
It's really a shame because if it IS true I've become so skeptical that I just look the other way. Too many have cried wolf in the past.
ebay is not a place for sob stories, if you're that hard up there are a hundred different more effective things you can do before you canvas e-bay.
A lot of folks these days have fallen on hard times. Maybe she is one of those people that has an adjustable rate mortgage and can't make her payments anymore. I mean, it could be a scam but who knows; it could really be someone who is down on their luck. I will reserve judgement.
She's single. That should get some bidders to her item. Some people are so desperate for a date that they will try anything.
As a fellow Hoosier I'm sure you're familiar with the "reassessment" on property taxes. I'm in Lake County and ours still hasn't been "announced" yet. Others in the county have and it did effectively destroy them. People in the Miller section of Gary (nicer neighborhoods) saw huge increases. My local dealer was buying tons of coins when that hit as these people had to raise tax money. I stated that I "look the other way" on auctions like this for a reason. I'm not judging per se. Everything she says could be totally true but ebay is not the place to look for donations. I've had to sell stuff off in the past to make life a little easier. I just did it and took my lumps as it were. Never asked for more than a good bid and always hoped for a better bid.
If you have any doubts about this "well educated single mom with a full time job" look at her other eBay auction. Is this her full time job?
clembo, I'm in Lake County too. And yes, the property tax increases have infuriated everyone in this county. Did you attend the last coinshow in Highland?
Didn't make that show but have been there many times. I grew up in Highland. Just sent you a PM. We gotta meet in person some time. clembo
That bag of 300 pennies has 45 mins to go and is up to $56. Some people are nuts..They must be hoping for a 31-s or 22 plain.
