Saw this in an add for an upcoming auction next month. I'm really curious as to what you all think this would grade out to be. I'm not all that familar with Seated Liberties. Only have the obverse photo, so do your best. Thank you for you help.
Unfortunately I don't think anyone could really give this a proper grade w/o photos of both sides. There may be underlying problems with the reverse and may not be. Kind of like asking if you think I have a big nose when you can't see me in profile. Sorry.
I will get with the auctioneer and see if I can get an image of the reverse. Thank you for your assistance.
You may want to pose a question here about the credentials of the auctioneer also. Most good ones would also present a photo of both sides. Not always, but sometimes the reason they do not is because of problems. Not saying this is the case but others here may know this auctioneers past track record. Be safe my friend, not sorry. This especially goes if you are new(er) to coin collecting or this particular series of coins.
It might also help to mention the denomination of the coin.... It appears to be a Dollar; the Half Dollar has a more radical curve to LIBERTY in the shield, and loops at the bottom of the dress which don't appear on the Dollar (or here). Seems AU-ish to me, despite the "MS60" on the cardboard, and from the look of the right field I kind of doubt the surfaces are original. In original condition it's a coin whose value exceeds $500, and I'm not committing that kind of money based on just this image.
