Driving down Business 80 in Sacramento and I could not help but notice that the Sacramento Inn (Formerly the Red Lion) where coin shows used to be held semi-annually, WAS GONE!

No buildings, no swimming pools, no nothing! Just Concrete slabs where building used to be!

    Anybody know what happened?

    Found this on the web:

Bummer. I lived in the neighborhood behind that Inn (Swanston Estates) when it was being built in 1960. We used to steal swims in the main pool after the construction crews went home.

We also used to roller skate down the Sears loading dock after hours on the weekend with skates which fastened to your "church" shoes using a "skate key".

Another layer of my onion has been peeled away!

@19Lyds I believe you just dated yourself. . . Not only roller skates, but the "strap on" variety!?!? ;)

All's good. . . My elementary and high schools have both been torn down. My middle school just got shuttered.

I head up to Baltimore tomorrow to a Whitman coin show.
Except for one coin my wantlist is rather fuzzy.

Speaking of dogs, I hope all went well with your trip to pick up the lost kitty.

She showed up last week, the little devil. :) The trip involved my sister-in-law....she passed. The wife took it hard, but is recovering. The return of the cat made her feel so much better.

I remember you mentioning the return in another thread, but didn't know that anyone had passed away; my apologies for possibly bringing up an unpleasant subject. That wasn't my intent, at all. My condolences to you and the wife.

Congrats on kitty, though. Very, very glad to hear it!

Attended Baltimore Whitman yesterday, picked up some odds and ends mostly. 1972D PCGS MS66 Ike for $75, Raw 1999P proof SBA for $15, 2012 US Mint set in original box for $55, and 1996 Silver proof set for $22. Also grabbed a 1952 Jefferson nickel in BU - last one needed to complete a BU set from 1938 - 2005 including proof issues.
