I am sorry if this is not the proper way to submit a question, but I am new to this site and this seemed to be the only way to make a post.

There is an on-line dealer that is advertising a wide margin fractional currency specimen as Ch CU that has 5 pin holes in the margin of the note. My question is, can this note be graded as Ch CU with these pin holes?

Thank you for any insight to this grading question.

 

I believe a CH-CU note, pinholes or not, will grade in the 60's, however the pinholes will negate a *PQ designation.

Error Note - Missing Black Overprint

I see a faint image of the black seal. Was this removed and not a true error?
When this print is missing the black seal, the left hand serial number will usually be light. Since your serial is strong, this may be a faked error.

 

Why would the green printing of the left serial number be lighter when the black overprint is missing? It isn't lighter in another note I have:

 

I am just reading directly from my paper money book about errors. The example he shows has a light left serial. And if the serial is strong it is likely counterfeit.
I hope the photo comes out.

How is that possible? The green and black overprints are printed separately.

There is no under printing of the left serial number.

 

I didn't write the book, I am just showing you what it says.
Have an expert verify your notes. It's just that this type of "error"
is commonly faked.

 

I ''acquired'' this $10 star note (low print run 640,000) by bank strap searching the currency that arrived at my work (currency exchange) and changing out the bill with a random $10 and buying this specific note. Every one knows I do this and no one seems to care. The same week I found a $50 radar. Not worth huge amounts over face now, but in a few years I am sure they will command more of a premium. Especially in CU.

 

Picked this up at a local Pawn Shop for $150 not bad for a Gold Note:

 

Overprint is BLACK serial is GREEN. Why would the green ink have to be lacking if the black is missing?

 

Nice note, condition is a little rough though but for $50 over face you cant go wrong
