Here are three wheat cents that I'm considering a submission to PCGS / NGC.

Do you agree with what I think they'll grade as?

    Thanks in advance!

    1909 VDB Wheat Cent

    MS-66 RD

This one's nice and frosty with few scattered contact marks. I'm not sure how the TPGs will look at that corrosion spot on the front.

1909 VDB Wheat Cent w/ Error

    MS-64+ RD

Here's another very sharp VDB Wheat cent. The error appears to be a lamination, planchet, struck through, or some other type of error.

    1955 Proof Wheat Cent

    PR-66 RD

The green hue is a very thin film that is much less visible in person. If the angle is changed, it becomes red, as shown. So, I think that despite the toning, it will still get a RD designation. Either that, or it may be PVC or OGP damage? Also, some of the "noise" on the reverse appears to be lint and not scratches.

Would you be submitting the 09 VDB as an "error"?

Personally, I feel your estimates rather optimistic, particularly with the first and last, but I also find most grading (in general) today to be such.

I think that I will submit it as an error.

They're probably optimistically graded, but they appear to be better than some others graded a little lower.

Here are better pics of the 1955 Wheat cent proof.

A lot of the noise is from toning.

I'll go with 65, 64 and 63 at PCGS. I don't see any value in having these graded but it might be fun.

The 1955 one I paid a few bucks for and the error VDB one was a bit more (in the 20s IIRC). I think I may be able to break even on the submission cost or be down a bit. But, it may be a good way to test myself.

Which reminds me, my last submission to PCGS is at D-Day +16, so I'm about halfway there. So, I should probably wait on how those grade before submitting these, as the self-grades I gave to those coins would be relative to them (like a Photograde comparison).
