I have had this for awhile. Forgot about it and saw it again tonight. I think it might be a struck through thread or something like that. Can any of you help me?
Interesting Cent.. Could be a struck through. Not sure if it's thread since there are no signs of fiber strings.
I had this one really far back in my box. I think I got it when i started collecting. I do have a couple struck through errors that have been graded by NGC so I know what to look for. I am with you about the thread. I am not sure what caused it but whatever it was caused the obverse pic to look distorted.
I like to find them first ungraded. I don't want to pay the money for someone else's work. I enjoy doing that myself. I have a fair amount of coins (world) that I have done that for. I do buy US coins that are attributed if it is something I want.
Where can I sell my coins and not get ripped off. I've just been sitting on them bc I dont know who to trust.
It does appear to be a struck through, but not sure of what..just certain it is not string. Perhaps Fred W. will give us some input.
You might try posting pictures here... or on Collectors Universe... I know there are honest people here and over there... they will give you an idea of what you may expect... it will take good pictures, but you can at least trust the input.
It depends on what they look like. No offense intended, but a lot of newcomers to the hobby think they have a gold mine, when in reality, it is only a piggy bank. Chris
It's struck thru - but hard to tell struck thru just 'what'. Notice that Lincoln's head also appears to be struck thru, but of a different texture. Your best place to sell such a piece would be Ebay, where you can get lots of eyes viewing it. It should bring a few dollars - maybe up to $4-5, or thereabouts.....
You really first should create your very own separate thread with your question. This thread is about a Mint Error issue!
I am blessed to have a nice little shop in my town. I live in Owosso MI and I go to Mandelo coins. They always take care of me and the owners are very knowledgable about many numismatic items. Right now with the bullion market being what it is they have been concentrating on that. But I have bought many US and World coins there. If I run across a coin I want graded they are membership of NGC so I take advantage of that. They only charge me 4 or 5 bucks over their grading price to do it. I have heard about collectors universe for years but haven't checked it out.
