Hi all. So I have this penny that seems to taper off on TRUST where it's bold thick lines and tapers to thin, lite until the T is just the top of it. I know 1988 had like 11 diffetent dies so I was wondering if this would be considered a good error? Thanks.
No but you should check that coin for transition variety. The next thing that refer you too is awesome cause I just learned about it, and @paddyman98 who been searching for 30 years just learned about it. Check the price on this cherry. Get your magnifying glass.
It looks like it was the result of a partially grease-filled die to me. You must keep in mind that grease and debris don't fill the recesses of a die all at once. It is a gradual build-up from one coin strike to the next. Chris
So I checked that fg and no it was normal however I have 3 1988 D and the last one, tell me what you think.
@Fee Your Cent is a copper plated zinc Cent. These look really bad when a Die that is used to strike the coin has become worn, hence the term Die Deterioration.
I would assume since it doesn't specify, and that it says that the die was intended for 1989, that if you found one for Denver, with the reverse of an 1989, it would still be premium. I'm not too sure bout that. Will look more on that tonight. I would keep all my 88 pennies though. Denver too.
