I am still tweeking my system but I will probably go ahead and start to out line it here on this forum only because I know there are some knowledgeable numismatist who I wouldn't mind getting a little feed back from. The way I see it is that the 1 to 70 scale is very very out dated and is flawed and I am also surprised that the industry still uses it. I will probably do a whole thread on my system and innovation. I am very busy with other project and research though.
Also I want to paten it so I am talking to an attorney now about that process. One thing I am worried about is someone stealing my system

Okay.... just to keep this is context, here is your earlier post:

Now, just so I have this straight, first you announce this supposedly wonderful and revolutionary new "grading system" you've already devised, acting as if not sharing it is all of humankind's loss, right? I follow you this far, but what confuses me is now that you've been called on it, the story changes and you're too busy, need to "tweak" it, want to talk to a lawyer, and are oh so concerned that someone might steal it, so you'll "probably" get around to it? How convenient.

Seriously... you're not Timmy from the burg, are you? I'm sorry, but it's nearly impossible not to see the obvious similarities here. Other than you, he's the only other member who has come here solely to voice his delusions of grandeur, genuinely expecting people to take him seriously. Just out of curiosity, if some "angel investor" handed you $100k, could you effortlessly turn it into hundreds of billions too?

Well Ed, it seems you've discovered those old geezers were just trying to make sure they were always one step ahead of you in getting to the best deals. You've sure shown them.

Hopefully your stellar initial performance is sullied neither by a reversal of fortune, nor a dose of reality.

no none of that is true. I just don't have time to explain it right now because I am leaving to go out of town right now on business and I wont have my computer with me.

You see this is the perfect example of a troll. This forum is meant for serious collectors that want to take and share knowledge, you do neither of those things. If I were to take a guess you're probably about 12 in real life. You don't actually believe this and it is just stubborn to say that you are just voicing your opinion. Myself and many other members are tired of you. Scram!

I would only, truly wish for you, @ed wood 654 ,to please display your thoughts of a new grading system,
I have a buddy that has a few patents.
Your, thoughts could be worked, on and conformed.
Please, I truly, would like your opinion on this subject!

Since this thread has lost it's way, what type of change do you (anyone) think would even work? A point system (62.3) or 100 point or ??? Would be an incredibly monumental task to change the entire world's system of grading. We don't all use the same standards now.

I think it's called, at least according to Eddie Boy, an Ellington Lincoln.

Perhaps I am wrong but a grading system would be copyrighted instead of patented. JMHO.

Yes by all means patent it so that no one else can use it. So you will be the only one using your system while everyone else in the world uses the other system.

Fortunately most if not all the edges are in the ocean and cats don't like water.

It'll be FAR easier to spend $50 a week than to earn that amount. If your goal is to become a dealer then you're going to need to have inventory. That means spending vast amounts to accumulate better grade stock. You'll have a hard time trying to sell lower grade stuff, unless it's comparatively rare. The trick is to not get attached to any of your coins. You're just moving them. This doesn't men you can't collect something you want but keep your priorities in place.

Actually I'm pretty sure he was right on the patent. It's a "system", not a "document". But if he did patent it, the implication is that he will want to enforce his now legal monopoly on its use. Or he will want to sell licenses to others to use it. Hard to imagine getting much acceptance for it that way.

Yes, I started off as a collector and, frankly, would have been a dismal failure without that background.

Money can be made in this market, but it requires far more time and energy than may be apparent, and involves a significant tolerance for risk. My first year in the dealer ranks involved very large negative transactions, and left me questioning my resolve as I licked my wounds. I'm glad I stuck with it, but it was admittedly a "tough" decision.

    It's definitely not for everyone.
