I like to carry some of my "key coins" in a "strap over the shoulder man purse" (at 88 years of age that is a somewhat unfamiliar term to me!) to brag about at coin shows -- or to just fondle and admire during reflective moments. In order to do that I remove the flips from my three ring binders and insert them in cut-down strips (accommodates four coins) from a standard three-ring binder sheet. -- a couple of these folded fit neatly in my "man purse" and add only a little weight.. Shoulder My lifetime portrait JC denarius merits its own single flip:
At 88, @jamesicus you are what many would consider to be a prime target for a strong-arm robber. I hope that it never happens to you, but the "man purse" is too great a temptation for some of these low-life thugs. Chris
I'm impressed on many fronts, not the least of which is that an 88 year old man knows the term "man purse" and isn't embarrassed to use it .
Love the coins and I think if anyone can make "man purse" cool again it's ancient coin collectors... we're super hip you know I also like to have one of my ancient coins to carry with me so I can admire it when I need a mental break from work. I used to carry my newest pieces with me because I was excited to admire them but I just couldn't get past the possibility of misplacing one. I would be a nervous wreck if I carried around a JC portrait like that! (awesome coin! ) I decided that I would carry just one larger piece in a flip in my wallet so it would be harder to lose. I've shown it before recently but what the heck...
Well Chris, At my age I really don't care if I am robbed -- I can go out in style with a first time experience
I carry a Gordie III silver antoninianus in my backpack all the time. Whenever I'm bored I can pull it out and get my coin fix. If I lose it, I can easily replace it!
That is a good attitude to have. For me though, if I thought I was "going out in style", I'd be happier knowing that I took the low-life thug with me. Chris
If you go to the Baltimore coin show and see an old guy carrying a diaper bag decorated with a little yellow duck, say, Hi.
We are indeed -- my great-grandchildren think so too! No nervousness Cutisimo -- "JC and me" -- close friends to the end!
You're not allowed to carry a man purse unless you have man boobs. I sometimes take a few ancient coins with me to social events. I like the incredulity some people experience at the fact that they're holding a coin that's thousands of years old.
Now, all tomfoolery aside, I feel comfortable carrying my favorite and dearly beloved coins with me -- I derive so much pleasure from them -- life is short! ........ particularly for me.
Thanks for that excellent YouTube link Endeavor. That Man purse is just like mine. I used to sling a satchel when I was a school boy -- not the same thing to me.
