Hello, I am a teller at a bank and I often come across interesting coins and currency. I currently have a few coins that I don't know much about, if there's a kind person out there to help me, it would be much appreciated. I have an unstamped US Sacagewea gold dollar. there is a soft ridge around the outside but no imprint on the front or back. I also have $3.75 (face value) of US silver quarters dating from 1936-1964. I cannot see where these coins were minted and I was wondering if someone could tell me. Also, if you know the approximate value. Thank you SO much for taking a moment of you time to help me out.
Welcome to the Forum Anna ! As for the $1 planchet - they are known to exist. But value is greatly dependent upon collector interest. They have sold recently for around $40 - $50 on ebay. But certified examples have sold for $100 or more. It may be worth your while to have yours certified. For the quarters you mention - are you saying they are so well worn that a mint mark cannot be seen - or are you saying there is no mint mark ? If the latter - then the coins were minted at Philadelphia. As for value - it depends entirely on the condition of the coins. Most circulated examples would be worth little more than the silver content - about 75 cents each.
