Just curious what everyone thinks of this new 5oz release for 2017 with a 500pc mintage? I, for one, think it's a really nice design and know the stock horse series in general has been very popular with a lot of folks. http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/stock-horse-2017-5oz-silver-gilded-coin.aspx
They were. There were 5 one ounce coins each with a different horse design and mintages around 10k I believe. This is a special final release that shows all 5 designs on one coin
Horse design coins tend to sell very well. I predict this one will be no different especially with multiple horses in different poses
Love Perth's quality and variety. But I like these MUCH more as one-horse coins (without the gold gilding).
I like the 1 oz better as well but the 1 oz single horses are also a lot easier to make stunning. I think they did a good job with the 5 ounce one and like the gold contrast on it
Now there's a beautiful coin. Or, I guess, token or medal, as it's not legal tender. The other one, again, IMHO, is simply too erratic of a design. Let me be more specific, it takes the eye on a wild buggy ride. Well, I guess that wasn't "more specific." Lol...
And beautifully minted. But Perth Mint calls it a coin. "...the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965." That said, I bet it's not a coin in general circulation. And there are a boatload of different coins like it -- with one side featuring Elizabeth II.
Correct it would never circulate but the Perth stuff is almost all actual coins even if they don't circulate
