Should this coin be sent to CAC or crossed over or kept as is??

I'm not sure if I should try to send this off to CAC keeping the old slab and hoping to gold bean. That would be my ideal outcome.

The difference between a 65FB and 67FB is mucho but I dont see 67 coin on mine.

Based on my bad images, what is my best scenario??

Try cac i guess but idk how they would view that toning. John Roberts told me in person one time, that my old ngc mercury would actually downgrade from 65 because of the toning that the holder had induced over the last 25 years. Yours actually looks somewhat similiar to the one i had.... I actually heeded his advice and unloaded the coin later on

 

I'd send it to CAC. It looks like a very strong 65 if not a 66. I think it should at least get a green bean with a possible shot at a gold. Personally I like it.

 

This is not a generation of NGC holder that is in strong demand (yet). The pressed holder, before the sticker, is in demand.

The coin appears quite attractive. It's hard to grade from the slightly dark, underlit pictures. 65 is probably a fair grade, but there appears to be a chance that it may be 66. I don't think it gets 67, just judging from these pictures (different pictures may change my mind).

There isn't a big jump from 65FB to 66FB, the big jump happens at 67FB. If you are absolutely sure that it is a lock 67FB, then go for it - but that's a risk. I think a safer bet is a CAC sticker (which is almost assured).

 

What Jason said is true about the gold foil logo's being in more demand, but a holder from this era with a full undamaged hologram is getting more and more difficult to find. I prefer to buy mine with completely intact holograms.

I bought it because I had a strange experience with the coin. The toning I really like. It looks very spacey, almost nebula like, which is an awesome background considering the subject matter in the foreground.

Now my crazy experience. I had some homegrown herbs from my garden here in sunny SoCal and ended up having a conversation with two guy's on the reverse of the coin about them hunting two owls, a coyote, and a wolverine. Before I knew it the day was over.

Now that I'm crazy or normal or... I own said coin.

 

Wow!! Maybe instead of a green of gold bean, you'll get a green or gold pill.

 

The VA already gives them to us as human experiments. We are just a handful of VA pills away from death every time we leave that place. Lol

Keep it in that older NGC holder and get a green bean on it. Why not?

I kind of like the obverse, I kind of don't like the reverse. If it were mine, I'd try once for a bean if in-hand inspection warranted it. Then I'd unload it and get a more attractive coin either way.

 

Intact holograms like This?

 

Yes!! Nothing is worse than something like this... My OCD compels me to just skip right by it. I might be missing a great coin, but man, I just hate the look of those trashed holograms. LOL

 

I too hate the damaged holograms - but the coins are still mighty fine. I won't pass on a coin just because the hologram is messed up.

 

Yeah, that's something I'm forcing myself to try to look beyond.

On the plus side, it sure does make the decision to regrade it easier.
