It was a lot of fun. I'm going to keep venturing out just to be amused be the strange looks I've been receiving.

scan2017pp.jpg $78 of nickels: 1939,2-40,2-41,2-46,2-48,49,52,2-53d,54pd,3-56d,58-1964's (even +% than last group!),3-68s,2-69s,2-70s,2-2009p,2009d,2-2017p... no war nickels or buffalos or foreign, or any AU's+. Pretty common finds. Hopefully the next group will be better. I'm still amazed at the mixing - no all recent date rolls.

    The pennies were a bust.
I'm going to use the nickel roll and the two penny rolls to get loose quarters, fill 5 more in a roll and bring home 3 rolls of quarters.

$20 MWR dimes: 200-D (the final "4" seems to have been swallowed up by the rim)

    $10 MWR nickels: 1940, 1948 (x2), 1957, 1957-D (better grade), 1958, 1988-P with a hole drilled through Jefferson's head.

    $10 2 dollar bills - nothing exciting

3 rolls of perhaps Loomis though not marked MWR quarters gave me 13 fills. Have a whopping 1 roll of the same dimes to check out next. Do NOT expect anything out of it but we'll see.

Sounds like we read the same book!
Personally I've hit more silver in teller trays and tolls than in rolls. Every booth on 95 from Baltimore past philly gets the question "do you have any odd change or bills in your till?" As far as intentionally going to lower income urban areas it doesn't sound bad at all...to me anyways. It's strategy for the treasure hunt. If you want to find sand you go to the beach. I pass through said neighborhoods leaving downtown to head home and I hit a couple banks close to the bar districts and have had good luck with them.
I never thought to make business cards though. Brilliant. Not only for banks but it would help when I do the pawn shop visits as well. Leaving your phone number doesn't make you stand out, but a card shows that you mean business.

I've noticed the best time for teller tray finds is around the holidays and winter months. People cash in jars/envelopes full of coins that have been sitting around for years in order to have some spending money for the holidays and/or winter heating bills. Wealthier areas are usually no good - too many collectors around. Poor areas haven't yielded much. It's the branches in older neighborhoods with working class roots, and specifically those branches that aren't in major business districts. Biggest score ever? Was from a bank that catered to an immigrant/non-native English speaker community.

How about some videos of each individual roll being opened? I think there would be some people here who would love to see that.

Whenever I go to the bank and ask for them:
they just laugh at me or my parents and hand them over.
    Thanks,

You too?!? The tellers keep saying that to me as well.

Always a day late and a dollar short.

I was right. I need one better example of 83P and 63D dimes.
Nothing to be found in the dime roll.
The other bank is closed until Monday.
    But ours is open tomorrow.
Gonna stick with quarters for now.

On my day off today between errands, I bought $71 worth of halves from several tellers that received them from customers: (1) 1964, (1) 1965, (2) 1967, (2) NIFC (for grandkids albums). The best part - 1 teller took my name and phone number and offered to call me if more came in, and told me she was "happy to get rid of them"! Another teller said to check back Monday when "Olga" would be back at her station as she had over $500 turned in by customers. I'm thinking probably already searched for silver, but I usually find some NIFCs and occasionally a proof so it's usually well worth the time invested. Also bought a $500 box of halves and had 2 "enders" that give me hope for the entire box. Will post my search results after I go through it all.

    scan1948ss.jpg scan1948s.jpg Wasted a nice afternoon. $90 nickels: 2-1939,2-40,40s,41,2-46,46d,47d,48,48s,51,2-52,52d,54ds,
2-55d,56d, a nice 57d (shown), 4-68s,2-69s,5-70s, but no war nickels or buffalos or foreign or 2009's. Ok group, but not great. Only 49-1964's.

Where is my roll of all pre-1970???

Dumped $140 twice this week. CU didn't seem to mind. Still haven't dumped any pre-1990 dated coins. scan1951pp.jpg scan1951p.jpg

I went to our bank and got again maybe Loomis MWR quarters.
Also turned the dime roll into 20 loose quarters.
Got an 87D fill out of the loose quarters and 9 fills from the 3 rolls. Got a fair way to go but at least I'm getting fills.

Went through a box of pennies yesterday and got 15 non key wheats. Been taking out coppers as well and am one roll away from a box worth. Hopefully today I'll find something good after I go through another box

Good take on the wheats, I normally get under ten per box. Good wheats will be found over time, and the coppers will continue for a long time. Welcome to TN and to the CRH hunters. HH, DozerD

$100 MWR dimes yielded only 1x69, 1x71 and 1x09P. On to the straps next...but that's a different thread;)
    HH!!!

Dang! A 71 with no mint mark and a 2009P are two of the dimes I need. But I'm going to stay with quarters for now.

If you're plugging holes from the wild stick with it. It's much more satisfying to fill a book that way. HH!

$40 in CWR halves from 1 bank in a grocery store today yielded 4 common year coins in AU condition.

I'll hope for better luck next time.
