    Hi All:

I recently obtained about slabbed coins, most are graded by ANI. In this lot, there are several that are MS67 or higher and at that Grade are valued in coin vales Magazines for Thousands of Dollars.

I know that many of the slabbers overgrade coins. So my question is: Should I consider taking the ones that are ANI High grades and send to PCGS for regrading? Is it worth the expense?

I also have some GEM, UNC and NCG? I beliebelt that they are not even worth the effort? Any thoughts on those?

    Welcome!

I try to stay away from slabs that are not PGCS or NGC. Maybe you should post pics so some of the folks here may see the grade of the coins

IMHO ANI is a bottom feeder whose grading cannot be trusted. Look at their own website, #3 in the Terms and Conditions says it all.

    Stay with the BIG four
    PCGS/NGC/ANACS/ICG

All others consider the coins RAW

A few months back I sent som ANI and UNC slabs into NGC for crossover grading. None of the coins met the minimum grade I was looking for - which was 3 points lower that what they were marked. NGC called me to let me know of the problems with the coins (I posted here witht the exact problems). They sent the coins back to me and I was out the shipping $.

    Gotta go with that.

Anytime you see MS67 etc and it's worth "thousands of dollars" ask yourself this. Why are they willing to let these coins go so cheap if they're worth thousands?
Answer is simple. THEY ARE NOT.

    gewoodfo,

You say you have a GEM slab? Any pictures of it? What is in it? I'm familiar with a company that used that name and I'd like to make sure it is the same one. Also I never managed to acquire and example of a GEM slab.

I'd like to see pictures of the NCG slab as well. There have been at least three different companies that have used those initials. I have two of them

Darn, No I didn't. I had kind of hoped to possibly get my hands on a GEM slab. Got suckered in on an old resurrected thread.

They are not true MS-67's and worth the $$$ unless PCGS and/or NGC graded.
