    I'm new. I found this 1989 P Dime in my Piggy Bank. FDR's cheek is sagging and there is a crack the lettering is over the cheek. The back also has a bubble. I want to know what could have caused this? Feel free to laugh. View attachment 635603 View attachment 635604

    Looks like it could be heat damage.
    The heat made the clad layer bubble up then deform.
    IMHO

    Would that be during or after being minted?

    always after, temperatures don't get hot enough inside the mint
