Anyone have a late die state 1914-D 1c

The large die break up Lincoln's coat is a diagnostic found on one 1914-D obverse die. This is the most advanced break I've seen on one of these coins. Additionally, on the left side of Lincoln's coat is a tiny break from the rim. I've never noticed this break on a 14-D. Anyone have a match?

Nope, 14D is one of the ones I'm missing from my album.... for obvious reasons.

I was going to make a comment about checking through the roll of 14-Ds I have, but sarcasm doesn't play well on forums. I, too, an missing the 14-D.

In that case, let me check through the roll... Jeeves, fetch the 14-Ds. No, these are the 09-S VDBs. No, these are the 31-Ss. Finally... wait, this is the VF roll. Get me the XF/AU... We're looking for die cracks! [emoji2]

Not exactly true. While I enjoyed giving and receiving sarcastic "barbs," some of the little girls don't like it at all! Now, I must try to play nice.

You may be able to check Heritage's site to see if the pics of sold lots can be blown up big enough to see. Probably time consuming but unless Rare Tim can find some in rolls or Ed Wood can show pics of coins he graded, this might be the best way to get some info

    Wait a sec.

I should have a box of 14-D LWCs somewhere in my basement. Last time I checked, they were all XF or higher and I think there's like 10 rolls of them. I had a few other keys in there as well, but mostly 14-Ds.

I also have a box of Charlotte and Dahlonega mint gold down there, in the same place. There's about 200 coins in there, including two 1861-D gold dollars. One is UNC, the other is XF IIRC. Most of them are raw in flips, but I got them all certified genuine at a high-level dealer a while ago.

Now to look for my stash of high grade bust dollars... I swear I had some!

Oh wait, I'm off topic. Back to the 14-Ds.

I think I marked off a specific half-full tube of them that had a die crack similar to OP's! I'm going to go look now.

That was sarcasm, how did I do?

I thought I remembered seeing that somewhere but couldn't find it. Thanks Larry.

Thanks, this is one of the longest cracks also BUT...:(

I'm looking for a coin with the tiny crack. On Collectors Universe, a long-time numismatic writer, researcher, and former TPGS employee :bookworm:has never seen one with both cracks either! No tricks, the OP coin is genuine. :D

At $1000 a pop, I think you should buy them all.

There's a reason you're not getting any useful info here... this is an expensive coin, and not too many people have them. Search Heritage, search NGC photo archives, ask Dave Lange....

Here is the one I found in 2006, in a bulk bag of Wheaties, thereby costing me less than a nickel or so. (Cha-ching!)

But I don't see the break on this one.
