    I've been going thru my type sets so I can get better examples and I came across this 1923-S Buffalo nickel, anyone have an opinion on what happened to it? Or is it just PMD? Thanks 1923MM.jpg

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

    It's a combination of PMD and the die being pushed well past its prime.

    Disagree, not any PMD on D. All die wear.

    EDIT: "S" mintmark. :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::facepalm: Thanks, @longarm!

    PS As to the rest of the posts...It figures. :happy:

    Yeesh, need some imagination to get an S out of that! But yes, it is from die erosion.
