So today I went to the bank to deposit a check, and I figured I might as well get $5 in pennies and try my luck with $10 in dimes. Although I did not get lucky with the dimes, I did with the pennies!!!!! Out of just 500 pennies 8 of them where wheat backs!!!!! Not only that, but I found 75 copper pennies! That makes the keep to put back ratio 81:500. Not too shabby if you ask me!
I look through $25 dollar bank boxes for wheat; went to the Dollar Store and got a '56 Lincoln in my change, so they are everywhere. Check your '55, '56 and '44 for re-punched mint marks.
Thank you for the advice, I will! I love looking through pennies because it is amazing how many Wheaties you can find! Plus, if you get lucky you can find a dime! It just seems that so many people search for silver it would be very difficult to find by now.
I figure it is a numbers game with billions of pennies out there, mixed in is the really cool stuff, but you have to look at a lot of "nopes", that is what I get from the experts when I post a non-keeper; I file the info for the future and keep looking. Remember the old saying, "A blind hog eventually finds an acorn?"; that's what I am banking on.
