#26290008 Completed at 12:52 pm. I was trying to place an order online, and continuously trying to get through on the telephone starting at noon. I finally succeeded on the telephone, 52 minutes later!

I only ordered the proof version, as it is the only "first spouse" coin I have been interested in since the program was announced. However, I will likely get one each of all the "batchelor" series. Not being fond of dead president portraits on coins, I am even less interested in dead president's spouses on coins.

I have heard about The Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren coins in 2008, and the James Buchanan coin in 2010. Would there not be one more "batchelor" coin for Chester A. Arthur in 2012? Maybe with the Morgan Liberty design?

Alice Paul as represented, in the case of President Chester Alan Arthur, by a design incorporating the name and likeness of Alice Paul, a leading strategist in the suffrage movement, who was instrumental in gaining women the right to vote upon the adoption of the 19th amendment and thus the ability to participate in the election of future Presidents, and who was born on January 11, 1885, during the term of President Arthur

Jefferson had been married before he was Pres but his wife died.

    Also
Dolley Madison occasionally acted as what is now described as first lady of the United States during the administration of Jefferson, fulfilling the ceremonial functions more usually associated with the President's wife, since Jefferson was a widower. Her name has been widely misspelled as "Dolly".

elaine1970, why do you think that the reverse is ugly. It is the grave stone that shows his accomplishments but does not include President of the United States. I think this was extremely humble of him.

    Inside information

I found out from an unusually articulate and helpful customer service rep at the US Mint today that

    a) they are currently filling orders beginning with 2630xxxx
    b) The Jefferson First Spouse coins will not be shipped until after all the MW and AA coins are shipped.

Don't give up. You could be as few as 3500 orders away, depending on how low xx is and how high xxxx is.

Besides, the series is dead and everyone is canceling their orders, right?.

for what it is worth , I read on another forum that some of the proof liberties are now in the "In Process" thingy. Cancellation notices are also being mailed. Several of their members also reported that they are now in the "In process" stage so must be something to it.. Starting with order number 3630.... Huh.. Oh well so much for being in front of the line lol. Good luck to all. Also understand that the fractional gold Buffalo's are not out of it yet. liberties or baby buffalos... either would be nice

Jefferson First Spouse coins are selling for roughly a 40% premium over the purchase price immediately. What "product" will give you a better return than that.

    premium lower and lower

third spouse gold premium keep lowering. and you got only 20% premium now. any coin come out can easily get 20% premium. a lot of other things can earn 20%. first and second spouses even got break even.

when i plan to buy spouse gold. i am thinking of 50% ,100% or even higher than 100%. but it is not what i think. look at silver 3 pc anniversary. or the silver am eagle unc w mint mark. how many % it went up?. those were the coins that i liked.
