GTG: 1880-S Morgan Dollar

    Here's one that I've had my eye on for a while at a local shop. I finally pulled the trigger on it and I'm pretty happy with it.

    MS 64 ...I think the cheek area keeps it out of a higher grade, but still a very nice specimen!

    I like the polish lines under the Eagle wing.

    Another well struck lustrous Morgan with clean surfaces but a disturbed focal area on the obverse. TPG's are tough on the common dates for gem grade so I say MS64+ for this one as well.

    64, but a higher grade wouldn't stun me.

    65 without the nose gash...Nice Morgan...MS64 with maybe a + ;)

    Because it is an 80 S, I think it gets graded more strictly than scarcer coins..Just got a number back from PCGS that were crossed from IGC as 64s and they are really tough on early S mint dollars...64 all day, that said it probably will command a better price that a standard 64 (which is really, really nice) but not sure it is even worth spending the CAC fees...only an opinion..it IS a really nice coin
