Considering the fare was 50 cents to go two revolutions, and they reported making $733,085 over the next 8 months, that means they had over 1.4 million riders. I'm going to assume you'd need to go a few more than 10 times to hold that record :p

I think @Seattlite86 should be declared at least "Honorable Mention" if he doesn't win.

Thanks Steve, I really do love that period. I purchased one of the medals for it off of ebay (not my photo but same medal)

Someday I'll purchase all those other wonderful medals too, the Isabella Quarter, and even a ticket if I can find one at a reasonable price. So many important things came to be thanks to that fair/exposition.

I think I would have a walk thru the exhibits, try some of the new Brad's Drink (Pepsi), buy an Isabella quarter, then see how many sets of baseball cards I could find in the stores around the exposition. I don't collect them, but hear I could trade them for something.

I'd buy one Columbian issue 1893 $5 US postage stamp Scott #245.

Thanks @lordmarcovan, with such cool prizes, how could I not enter.
My choices would require a lot of luck to find. I think I'd have to stay in coin mode and try to pick up a trade dollar from 1884 or 1885 - mintage of 10 and 5. An 1875 $3 gold piece - proof only, mintage of 20. Then I would trade my last scrappy Morgan for an 1855-D gold dollar - Mintage of 1,811.

First, I would buy one ticket (.50) to keep in tact. Then a pack of Spearmint and Juicy Fruit and keep myself from eating them. Then I'd buy a few coins minted for the expo. I'd make sure the leftover change was as close to MS as could be, hopefully along with an unfolded series 1880 $1 bill with Rosecrans and Nebekers signatures.

Hmm. I wouldn't buy me anything. I would go find an orphanage close by and take the $5 to pay for admission for as many of the kids as I could. I then would take my own money and make sure they had a GREAT time!! Popcorn, rides, souvenirs...etc etc.

Being an orphan myself this would have more meaning to me than buying a coin or souvenir for myself.

BTW thanks for the great contest!!! I loved reading all the replies so far.

Great contest idea! And great ideas so far!!!
I think I'd see if I could use my 5 Morgans to try to get a face to face with one of my idols, Mr. Nikolai Tesla. Imagine that?!!! Maybe I could have persuaded him to have a drink or two, and just chit-chat for a bit!

I guess I'd be headed here: Tesla's alternating current exhibit columbia17.jpg

I would buy an Isabella quarter and a couple Columbia Exposition half dollars. With the last two dollars I would see if I could exchange with a vendor for 4 rolls of pennies in hopes of finding a flying eagle cent or a key date indian.

Extra chance in the drawing for @MontCollector.

Life in a 19th century orphanage can't have been rosy.

And think of the future ripples ("butterfly effect") that might happen when you open up some kid's mind. Could become a future inventor or something...

Personally, I would have gotten two Colombian exposition half dollars and 2 isabella quarters. I would search for pieces in MS69 condition and keep them preserved until present day!

Ok. I'm changing mine to giving away fluffy kittens to orphaned children after I pay their way to the Expo, and feed them cotton candy. Any excess funds will be used to buy reading glasses for homeless old ladies.

Admirable, but you shouldn't feed cotton candy to fluffy kittens. Gives 'em indigestion and then they chuck up rainbow-colored hairballs on the upholstery. And you know that any cat making that dreaded "huckk-huccckkk-HUKKKK" sound (usually at 3:00 AM) is gonna head straight for the most stainable upholstery they can find before they spew.
