    I took this and another like it 00' from the pawn shop shelf.
    In hand it has been whizzed. But, for 5 ea. It was worth it, they needed a good home. IMG_3465.JPG IMG_3466.JPG

    You're right, it's a $5 half eagle and it weighed 8.351 grams on my new fancy scale! :happy:

    Thanks that's sort of what I was thinking a stain or strike through a thread . As it's not breaking the surface but does run through the devices . That may hold it to a 64 thinking or was hopeful for a 65 on this one.

    These two were sitting side by side in the case, I really didn't care about the low grade examples. Just wanted an example for my collection.

    Yesterday I went to a small coin show. I brought a single $50 bill with me, so my purchases will be perfect for this thread. After walking all the tables, and finding NO ancients, I found the only seller at the show with a few South African coins.
    Here is a bronze 1898 1 Penny. Mintage of 263,000 20170522_104626-1.jpg 20170522_104644-1.jpg 1896 silver 2.5 Shillings 20170522_104908-1.jpg 20170522_111128-1.jpg 1892 silver 1 Shilling 20170522_105205-1.jpg 20170522_105216-1.jpg 1935 silver 2.5 shillings 20170522_105339-1.jpg and lastly a 1964 proof set with 7 coins including this silver 5 Shillings with my fav, the springbok! 20170522_105812-1.jpg 20170522_105753-1.jpg I left the show with zero dollars left. A success!

    What does YN stand for?

    YN = Young Numismatist

    I believe the American Numismatic Association defines a YN as a collector from 5 to 17 years old.

    Seller's pics - just picked up this "Double Header" Civil War token - NY-630L-17a, with two (nearly) identical dies, the latter in it's terminal state. This example is also weakly struck on one edge. R-2, but not offered as often as the rarity would indicate.

    $25 shipped - I couldn't say no.

    This one was $40, but it included the rest of the proof set:
