    Beautiful portrait. I have only one coin of Julia Domna and I notice that it has the same hairstyle as on your currency. The empresses' hairstyles are a collection theme of currencies that some have chosen, it is sometimes very spectacular.

    Your coin appears to be an AE denarius of the Laetitia reverse. These are often termed Limes (Lee-mace) on the theory they were produced for use near the limits of the Empire either semi-officially or to fill a need for coins beyond the regular supply lines. There is also a possibility that the coin is a normal silver denarius turned completely dark through burial. The style would allow either and I certainly could not say from the photo. Below is a normal, silver one.
