Based on only the sellers' photos and if you had to choose, which raw 1937-P Buffalo nickel would you buy if they're both at the same price? Which is the better coin? To some degree it's a gamble; but to make it simpler, let's say they're both problem-free. This is another way of asking, GTG w/ a further emphasis on both eye appeal and micro-grading (i.e. even at the same grade, one coin is at a slightly better condition). Feel free to grade them, too!

Many buyers face these questions when viewing eBay listings. Buyers could simply ask the seller for more pics, but even then, the photos may still be too difficult to make out any additional details.

So, I want to see which of the two most people on this forum will choose. Or maybe it'll be a toss up! By the way, I bought one of them... which did I choose?

    Thanks in advance!

If you take the reddish-orange hue away from #1, will it be frosty and an EDS with far less die wear than #2?

    #2

The area where the hair is tied down appears to be relatively more worn than in #1.

Hard to say from these complete different pics.
It's like comparing apples with pears.
But I like coin 2 more or better said picture 2.

The date and feather on number 2 are blurry. Assuming the feather on number two has as much detail as number one I would buy it.

downloadfile-169.jpeg On the two coins pictured neither 37 is an easy date to obtain in mint state without any issues. I picked one up mid April for $6 .

When it arrives, if it looks good enough, I'll submit it to PCGS.

    I picked this one:

I think most will pick 2 as it appears to be a more accurate picture. 1 has a chance of being the better coin but that is a really weird picture color if that coin has no toning, it would be a gamble

Yeah, that's what it came down to for me. #2 was relatively more assuring, but #1 has potential to be a better coin. The gamble of how the color and surface looked was just too much of a risk. If the seller just posted a more natural, in-person coin appearance, it may have won. I'm going to ask the seller to post a better pic, and maybe I'll purchase it, too.

Will this change your perception of coin #2?

Just got new pics from seller.

My biggest question would be which set of pictures is more accurate?

I bought the second one today so I'll have to see how it looks in person.

That will be interesting to see. If the first picture is the more accurate one I am more inclined to believe the other one is a nice coin as well. That second image has the same type of look that the other coin image did

OK everyone. I can say definitively that the better coin of the two is... #2!

The difference in detail is staggering, both between the two coins and when you compare the sellers' photos to in-person ones.

We all lose except for the one person who voted otherwise lol.

    Here's coin #1 in-person:

    Here's coin #2 in-person; MS-66 or greater?:
