What do you think caused this.

    I'd say die gouges - only because there
    are too many of them to call them
    simply 'die scratches'.

    It's also possible that the die was damaged
    from the feeder fingers scraping across the die
    in that area, although the one's I've seen are
    not localized only below the neck like this one is.....

    It has nothing to do with the thread. When I tried to say that IMO, requesting an image of the reverse of the OP's coin was not necessary, this stored image was inserted instead! I could not delete it or leave my comment.

    The bird is a vulture. Sorta makes sense after all. :facepalm::D

    Props to you. I've been wondering how to open boxes with a red X.
