1990 no mint mark Lincoln penny

Hey guys I have a question I keep hearing a lot about the 1990 no mint mark Lincoln penny are those supposedly rare I'm going through my cherry pickers guide and they're showing the 1990 no mint mark maybe somebody out there can educate me preciate it

I'm guessing that you are referring to the 1990 "No S" proof Lincoln. There are a few years between 1968 & 1990 where one denomination or another was mistakenly included in the set without the San Francisco (S) mintmark. It is these proof coins that are more valuable, but their greatest value is when they are left, intact, in the proof set. It is important to remember that all of the business strike coins produced at the Philadelphia Mint normally do not have a mintmark.

It might be good for you to buy a copy of the Red Book


(Note: It is published annually) because it contains a lot of information you are not likely to find elsewhere.

I think it is a 1990 cent minted at Philadelphia. There were only about 6.8 billion minted.

No offense sorry if i may ask how would I know if its proof. I know its been circulated and lost alot

You have a normal 1990 cent. Not a proof.

 

A proof will have mirror like fields and Lincoln will have a cameo appearance. Even if circulated it is very easy to tell.
