Pretty neat to see one of your coins on the cover. I have one of the coins on the 2013 edition and thought it was pretty cool also.

I am not in to colorized coins, but this was part of a "lot" of coins i purchased from Germany last year. Krause value at $20 I only paid $1.70.

A fellow collector I trade a lot with found out my wife collects world coins. Well he surprised us and sent her a bunch of his duplicate coins.

This one caught my eye. 1977British.jpg

Don't know anything about it I just like the way it looks.

As far as I know, it was made to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee :)

Yep. The image on the right shows a few "coronation related objects" by the way. Below the crown, you can see an ampulla (with the bird) and a spoon which are parts of the Crown Jewels. "When a monarch is anointed, the Dean of Westminster pours holy anointing oil from the Ampulla into the Coronation Spoon." (Source)

    Essai-Pattern-Probe.
Never seen them before although I now see some for sale on eBay.de

At one time I had about 20 of those. All looked crude and weakly struck. The date appears in the upper right corner of the obverse and everyone of them looked slightly different. The correct date is AH1342 or AH1343. That would be our 1923 or 1924. This is what it is supposed to look like.

    1342.JPG 1343.JPG

This is the best example of the date on the ones I used to have. It is a AH1343

Fantasy is right; anybody can have such medals made. So the terms Essai, Pattern and Probe are somewhat misleading. I know that in the early years of the euro, some people would buy, for example, the Vatican themed thingies assuming they were official issues, or because the real coins were hard to get.

Here are some more pieces like that: http://www.jezuss.nl/eu/euro-pattern.htm The ceros medals (see the "Europ Ceros" and "Xeros Ceros" categories) were made by some Swiss company, I think.

Some of those are dated 2005 or 2006 - now why any collector would still buy such pieces I don't know. But if they were in a big lot - oh well, I hope it contained some interesting pieces as well. ;)

Bought around 30lbs (13kg) of coins and a wad of old banknotes from a guy who calls me about every 6 months. I paid £75.
He buys tons of coins and notes from auctions and fairs but only keeps British notes and few selected coins.
He is ignorant when it comes to old foreign money and metals.
I pulled out £20 in old British coins which I can change for face value at the bank.
150 Deutsche Marks and 10,000 Spanish Pesetas which can be exchanged for Euro`s in Germany and Spain.
    100 current Swiss Francs.
    and €30 Euros.
I got lots of old collectable coins and some nice silver pieces.
I basically got it for free and I`m in profit already and I`ve not started on the notes.
The copper will go to scrap as will some of the silver.

Ah, then these are not bad deals at all. Cool! Just a reminder - you have another 3½ years to get those pesetas changed ...
