Hey guys, I wanted to run a contest for fun even though I have nothing of actual value that I can afford to part with. So, here goes..... I'm gonna pick one person from this thread sometime in the next 24 - 48 hours to send a handful of wheaties to... if nothing else, you'll get a few pieces of history to add to your collection hehe. All you have to do is post and tell me why you either love or hate wheaties and I"ll pick one person at random to send the coins to. I will have to be offline for a good while coming up in about 2 days....so make your posts asap. Jasn
I could most certainly use those wheaties ! I still have lots of holes to fill. In that note.. I love wheaties to fill the holes in my album. Sign me up. Thanks!
haha surreeeeee it's there. *shifty eyes* does that mean you are in or out hamman? just because someone hates wheaties don't mean they don't keep em and collect em anyway haha. I HATE merc dimes but I still use to collect them.
I love and hate weaties. I have a few rolls of duplicate common circ wheats, I hate them. But I love the ones that I have in my whitman folder. It's been hard to find ones that are b4 1940 for the folder. It's only about 1/4 full. Im in
Okay, so if that doesn't count: The best part is that you can still find them in rolls of cents. Even some oldies, which is always fun.
I'm in! While I'm not completely in love with weaties, I personally prefer the memorials, but I do love history and I do have holes in my whitman books to fill.
I'm not a big fan of the wheaties. I'm obsessed with silver. I have a bunch of wheaties though, which I love because most of them were stashed away by my late grandfather 2 or 3 decades ago. He wasn't really a collector. But its cool that I have a reminder of him as part of my collection.
I like the wheaties. They were the first coins I began collecting as a kid because they were something different that could still be found in circulation even as late as the 70's on a regular basis. I stashed away quite a few of them. Guy~
Ditto that......for such a large percentage of the population, kids' first experiences with numismatics somehow involves wheaties. Wether it was a wheatie in change, grandpa, uncle or dad, wheat cents are often the first exposure to coin collecting
I'm not a die hard Lincoln collector as many know. However, I have thousands and have been picking up semi key dates as of late to add to my stock as it were. At this particular time I LOVE WHEATIES because they are the most bestest, neato torpedo, ultra cool hands down king of coins in the whole world PERIOD. I'm certainly not saying that just to increase my chances of winning! clembo
"neato torpedo" Don't ask me where it came from it just popped into my mind but it was a phrase used once upon a time. )
I love wheaties because I come across more of them here in Canada than I ever did in the US. I think Canadians just go "meh, American money" and keep it circulating, whereas Americans say "cool, this is different" and then hang onto it. Count me in.
I like wheaties because I use them to get the cub scouts injto collecting. I'ts fun watching a bunch of 8,9 and 10 year olds dig through a pile of common wheaties trying to fill as many holes in their blank folders as they can in the time allotted. They get to keep the folder and any coins that are in the right spot! Ziggy
