I've got an AE of Constantine with a hole punched in the right hand side of the planchet. Appears to be of ancient origin based on the appearance of the patina. Kind of peculiar. Obverse: Bust of Constantine helmeted facing right Reverse: Two captives with standard between them Does anyone else happen to have a coin damaged in this fashion?
Holes that I have collected: RImp Spain Lepida-Clesa Lepidus - mon C Balbus L Porcius Colonia Victrix Ivlia Lepida Victory - Bull holed RPI 262 plate 19 China ANCIENT Cowrie - BONE 2 holes for clothing or funeral bier 20mm Hartill 1-2v ; Coole 51-66 Black Hole (Represents my Coin Collecting habits...)
Sure. This topic has come up in the past. Some of the holes were made in antiquity, while others were holed in more contemporary times. Here is one of mine I feel was holed with a square shaped nail. QUINTILLUS Antoninianus OBVERSE: IMP CM AVR CL QVINTILLVS AVG, radiate, draped, cuirassed bust right REVERSE: PAX AVGVSTI, Pax standing left, holding olive branch and transverse sceptre, A in left field Struck at Rome, 270 AD 2.2g, 20mm RIC 26 And here is another which I have no idea when it was holed OTACILIA SEVERA Æ Sestertius OBVERSE: MARCIA OTACILIA SEVERA AVG, diademed and draped bust right REVERSE: SAECVLARES AVGG, SC in ex, Hippopotamus standing right, head raised Struck at Rome, 248 AD 18.6g, 30mm RIC 200a, Cohen 65 ex Warren Esty

I'm working on the cropping, but google photos only allows you to resize the image - no way to cut out the background or move the images of the coins around. I think I need to try some different pic editors.
Nice sestertius @Bing. I'd like to focus on getting coins of the millenial games thrown by Phillip in honor of the 1,000 anniversary of the founding of Rome, which is what you've got here, but I don't have any yet.
Anything that enters never leaves? That's what I thought too...until I stopped collecting modern U.S. Gotta make room for more ancients and tokens so the U.S. stuff has got to go.
