Roman imperial portraits have become my new favorite thing. And after my funny neanderthal Trajan pickup, I couldnt say no to this Vespasian, with a a similar nose as that from the movie Roxanne with Steve Martin. Most likely caused by the die or strike, it's still kinda funny. VESPASIAN AR Denarius, Antioch IMP CAES VESP AVG- P M COS IIII, Laureate head right CONCORDIA-AVGVSTI, Concordia seated left, patera in right hand, cornucopiae in left RIC 1554, RPC 1927, RSC 74 3.28g, 18mm
Lol, nice find. Could be a lost ancestor to Jimmy Durante, for anyone that remembers him. A die break or chip I can share, snot nose Maximinus II. Maximinus II Daia (309 - 313 A.D.) R:GENIO POPVLI ROMANI; Genius standing left, modius on head, naked but for chlamys over left shoulder, right hand holding patera from which liquord flows; left a cornucopia., A in right field, •SM•SD• in exergue. Serdica mint 28mm 10.7g RIC VI 13b RCV 3754v (obverse inscription)
What I find interesting about that coin is the reverse legend - notice the odd legend break between the 'A' and 'VGVSTI'. But I'm weird.
Super cool snout-addition ... congrats, Evan (that's a total winner) Ummm yah, Nerva is probably the only cool snout-coin in my collection? ...
