Should I post my pending newp here before I've even mailed the check on it?

I've got a what I consider to be very sweeeet ancient coming soon. (@Aethelred has had a sneak peek and approves.)

I have committed to buy it, so it's on hold for me- I'm just waiting for funds to come in on another deal and then off goes my check to this seller, and it's mine.

I'm bursting to share it, but maybe I should restrain myself until it's officially mine, huh?

    Ya think?

Or we could do a guessing game to make it fun... :D

Dang, should've made a poll. LOL

I'll wait, but y'all are welcome to guess, and if somebody gets close enough, maybe I'll tip my hand. ;)

A styca or penny of Aethelred?

Maybe not though since you said it was an ancient coin.

My vote is to wait. I have 6 coins coming (already paid), but I will wait until they are in hand before I post any of them.

Is it one of the beautiful and exceptionally rare 2017-P Cents?

I used to post coins before I had them in hand until my delivery from Israel went missing last year. I posted them as my newly acquired coins last October but I have not received them yet. Tracking ends as soon as they entered the USA and then nothing. Sure, go ahead and post your coin. Chances are it won't get lost, stolen, or buried at Customs. ;)

    L. Cassius Longinus to commemorate the passing of the Lex Cassia tabellaria in 137 B.C. that introduced voting by ballot to the Roman Republic.

    or

Roman denarius, 113 B.C. (Licinia 7). Issued by mint magistrate P. Nerva. Reverse shows three Roman citizens voting.

    That's my guess.

In 2016, I had three coins that did not come. One was lost in mail (not the first from this seller), one was switched for a coin I did not order by the dealer and one was sold to someone else by the dealer who had listed the coin on more than one site and failed to delete it from the others when it sold. I got refunds on the first and last but got stuck with the coin I didn't want because mailing it back to Spain would cost more than it was worth.

If you bought a $10,000 coin for $1 and start blowing your horn before you have it in hand, you almost deserve for the seller to give in to temptation and 'lose' the coin. Most are honest and don't play 'games'. A few are not in the business for the long term and will do anything for a dollar more. Wait.
