Hey everyone, just received a couple Morgans I purchased off eBay and was looking for some input as to whether they have been dipped/whizzed/etc. They have pretty cool teal toning but the fields look iffy and there is no discernible cartwheel luster. Anyhow, here they are...two shots of each obvs and each rev
    Thanks! IMG_1619.JPG IMG_1620.JPG IMG_1621.JPG IMG_1622.JPG IMG_1623.JPG IMG_1624.JPG IMG_1625.JPG IMG_1626.JPG

Unquestionably cleaned. The 1896 one has big scratches on the cheek, that look mechanical. The fields on the coins have that "scrubbed look." I have doubts about natural toning as well.

Not an expert but on the first coin, if you look at the In God We Trust area,
that is a sign of cleaning. That the rest of the coin is clean looking, and in those areas there is still crud inside the letters.

I think cleaned and also the colors are wrong for Morgan Dollar toning.

Usually the halo coming from the devices, will give it a details grade. Long time pocket rub can do this also.

Billowing shades of blue, magenta (and burnt oweenge) such as the coins shown are 100% signs of a doctored AT coin. I think this is caused by heat but could be a chemical agent involved i reckon......
As mentioned, the halos and hairlines give it away too.....

Well the other thing is that there is little if any normal progression of color from one stage to another. Usually some of the color will be richer and there are very few pale colors except in the early stages. In my experience coins are rarely evenly exposed over the entire surface. I think the coin was overly AT and then some of the excess toning removed in an attempt to give it some credibility.

Return them. If the seller blocks you from future auctions they're doing you a favor.

After some silver polishes these colors may retone in time, without assist.

I think yes because of the light area between the date and rim. But without holding them it is difficult to say. If it were me I would pass unless it is so cheap you are almost buying it near spot.
