no. There is a blending of steps 1 and 2 beneath pillar 3, as well as between steps 4 and 5 beneath the same pillar.
I don't even see a SINGLE full step, let alone the 5 required by PCGS for their (2nd rate) designation.
Wow, yet another PCGS "clerical error"?!?!? Too bad it's an S, it could have been a matte proof, maybe. Weed's now legal where PCGS is, right?
He's probably (totally?) clueless as to what full steps entails. Just another fortune hunter who buys a slab and not a coin...................
They look no different then the other ones ( 1938-S ) listed on coinfacts http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/Coin/Detail/84002
Maybe there is a new rule that if any part of the step shows, then it's considered full? Those coinfacts pics are an embarrassment.
All I can say is wow! I originally commented at work where I was unable to see the eBay auction. I am stunned that this coin got FS. I took a good look at the eBay image tonight when I got home and I might see where the disturbance I saw in steps 1/2 might be on the holder, but the bottom step just doesn't get it from me.
In their defense, all "Reverse of 1938" nickels, whether 1938, 1939, or the rare 1940 proof, are judged by a different standard. It's more about the lack of hits.
Beautiful obverse and reverse. The steps are the worst part of the coin. I see MS 65 1938-S for $17. This is an MS 67 mistakenly graded FS for $1300+ I think I would be happy with the $17 coin.
yes , it is the type of 38. Steps from 39 and later were different. The image is on cointalk someplace not my image.
