Die Deterioration Doubling.. Common on Copper Plated Zinc Cents Mint Mark might be the beginning of Zinc Rot
I am so thoroughly disenchanted with modern cents, I am thinking that preserving some might be worthwhile because they wear so badly.
Okay, thank you. Doubling is hard for me. I knew it wasn't a known variety, but I really can't distinguish...yet.
Thank you! With work and school I'm only two rolls in to the 2 boxes worth of pennies, but almost half are pre 1982. So glad school is almost over for the semester so I can devote more time to this. I'm not checking real close yet, but noticed this and thought I'd post. The whole doubling thing is a tough one for me. They must have been in rolls or something for quite some time because in 2 rolls I've already found an 81, 82, 83, and 86 in very good shape imo. But then I don't know anything about grading...
I've found a few in these couple of rolls in really good shape for early 80's. I'm going to stick them back...
Yes they would. Along with my 1909, 1910, 1914....I've already gotten a pretty nice little collection together in the last few months from circulation. It helps that dad gave me a half a jar of wheats he'd been saving for who knows how long. My 1942 P war nickel was also in that jar...and some old foreign coins...
Thank you. I'll do that. I have several 83's I need to check. I have several 82 copper. Just have to get some scales...
