Update: this giveaway has CLOSED for entries, now.

I've been a member for 6.5 years and have approximately 1500 posts. Long time, not too chatty but it's about time I had a giveaway contest. I haven't decided on prizes but I will send 3 lucky contestants a prize or prizes depending on your entry and my mood.

So, post to this thread with a favorite quote and your favorite coin.

After entries are in, I will assign numbers based on order of entry and randomly select winners.

After winners are chosen, I will decide based on your favorite coin choice whether your prize is US or world so choose wisely.

If I really like your quote, it may increase the value of your prize(s).

Yes, I will be winging it but you're competing for free stuff so I can do what I want. :)

It's 7 PM EDST on 7 May and I will choose winners in 1 week at 7 PM EDST on 14 May.

    Good luck!
    Jim

Actually what you are describing is a raffle. Check the rules.

"Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there's nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or an English toffee. But they're gone too fast and the taste is... fleeting. So, you end up with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth-shattering nuts. And if you're desperate enough to eat those, all you got left is an empty box filled with useless brown paper wrappers."

How is it possibly a raffle? You post a quote and your favorite coin so I know if you're into US or world coins, winners are chosen at random, then I send out prizes to 3 winners.

Doesn't seem to be a raffle -technically. But whether the rules allow this type of give away is another issue. I read the rules recently but now when I go to read them again, I can't locate them. Wish someone would post a link to them.

Nobody has to BUY anything! I'm not sure how I could be any more clear on this. I'm about to call it quits and just send prizes to the 2 people who can read simple English. Please show me a quote from my post where I ask for anything in return for this contest.

My favorite coin would have to be the Trade Dollar. I love the beauty of it, while it having played in important part in history.

Calm down sport...perhaps I used the wrong term but I just saw someone doing something as a drawing (like in a raffle, not an auction) and they were warned that it was not allowed to have a contest decided by a drawing. Don't include me if that is your decision, just trying to be helpful.

I am not quite sure I understand why it is illegal?

Each individual contest can have its own rules. Be creative if you wish, post questions that must be answered if you wish - or just allow everyone who enters to have a chance with a random drawing. (Cited from: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/holding-a-contest.5068/)

I got a little testy when I was given a link and a quote to what a raffle is after I responded to your post. I might have concluded incorrectly that the post was in support of your assertion.

Technically, according to my arbitrary rules, you haven't entered yet.

I thought I was making it fair by making it a random draw of 3 winners from all of the entrants. After winners are chosen, I will choose prizes for each individual based on the types of coins they like in an effort to make the winners as happy as possible.

Please feel free to enter if you like.

Yaaaayy! Oh boy! Now all I need is a quote and a coin preference to enter.

Since Mother's Day is coming up I thought this would be a great quote.

I am working on a US Type Set, so this is my favorite coin from my currently available photos. I also love a good error coin :)

My favorite coin has to be the mercury dime. What is there not to love about it! (Although i have been known to change my mind about this) Rita Quote.jpg
My favorite quote is from Rita Levi Montalcini. She was a jewish scientist during WWII in italy, forced to run because of Mussolini's rule. Lived to 103! We learned about her in italian class and her story was really inspiring.
The quote translated means, "Don't fear the difficult moments, the best comes from them"
