I would never give the USPS, FedEx etc my e mail address. So when I get messages from them, I always know it's a fraud/ phishing scam.
I'm not sure I understand you here. I checked the table before I posted, and if my interpretation was correct (I'm not a lawyer or an accountant), the rate is .0675% of your income -- in other words, 6.75% (the state tax rate) of 1% of your income. So you're paying less than .1% of your income, but that represents sales tax on 1% of your income. Does that match what you've seen?
I gave them one-off addresses that I use only for them. So if I see something purporting to be from USPS or FedEx, but it's not addressed properly, I know it's bogus. Usually I don't have to look at the recipient address to figure that out, though; when the link for "Go to MyUSPS" points to usps.gov.gophishxxx.ru, it's pretty clear what's up.
Yes I have done that with secondary e mail to see if they sell my information. (When I get a weird e mail from some business.) I meant I wouldn't give them my primary e mail.
I've read on other forums where people are already signed up for this and they are getting scans of junkmail. As long as it fits the size requirements, they get a scan.
One reason you are able to say that with the connotation is carries is that everyone accepts it the way it is instead of objecting. If more people would object then there would be no reason for the phrase in the first place.
I too have signed up, but no scans of junk mail. You wouldn't expect them to be consistent would you?
There is bound to be a room full of people who spend every waking minute figure out new ways to invade our privacy. I kid you not.
Not really. USPS didn't go out and invest in a bunch of technology to send out some emails, it was already there. If more people object the emails may end but the practice will continue.
If you buy something online, say at Amazon, the shipment should have tracking data and they'll send it to you via mail. I receive updated tracking information for expected shipments on a daily basis. If you know what you're doing, there's no reason not to give your e-mail address to FedEx too.
Exactly, most already have it anyway from the purchase. If someone is really crazy about it they can make a throw away email for it
I've owned my own domain for almost 20 years. It only costs about $10/yr. That means that as I moved I did not need to change my e-mail address. But another bonus is that every place I have to give an e-mail address I can use a unique one and can therefore track all spam based on its origin. For example, if ordering from website randomwebsite.com I use the address randdomwebsite.com@mydomainname.net. This only fails if I use paypal as the address paypal@mydomainname.net gets passed to the vendor.
To bad they don't do something that will get the mail to the address in a timely manner. A week ago wife had a package that was shipped on 4/12/17 and with the tracking number we watched it move between 3 hubs that service the outlying Metro area. It was delivered on 4/28/17, We had 5 packages in the last 6 months that did that. Not to mentions the mail and packages delivered by neighbors, that received them and they are not on the same street! It would be nice if they would hire people that could actually read and just nbot match numbers on the envelope and house.
I'm in the process of watching a package that shipped from Tokyo. It arrived in New York within a week, where it entered our tracking system. Since then it has moved expeditiously to Eugene, Oregon. I live in Virginia.
Been there had watched the same movie a number of times both in state and in the contiguous states. As the packages traveled more than I do. either responding to the email address on the sight for tracking problems, or the 800 number or the local postal supervisor. They have no reason or explanation for it. Just think of all the fun we would be having with out the tracking numbers.
True! I watched tracking for a check I sent from Virginia to New York. It got stuck in Denver (!) for 17-18 days. It was shortly after the legalization of marijuana in Colorado so I'm assuming my letter was enjoying quite a party. At least the tracking can make the 'worry factor' a little less. It may be going the long way but at least it's still alive.
Got our first email with photos of the mail. Only first class mail this time. Not sure if that means no junk mail coming today, or just no photos of junk mail. We'll see over time.
As one of those semi famous actors said in a movie, I will paraphrase I don't want no sticking pictures of my mail just deliver my MAIL!
