I guess, There could be something on the lower underside leg of the " L " hard to tell, grinder is present .
Considering there are well over 100 known varieties (doubled dies) for 1964 alone, it's a bit of a stretch to call it a "weak year".
@Rick Stachowski Check the top of that 6 and bottom of that 9. I'd have missed this searching my coins with a 10x loupe.
If you ever been on Coneca site for this year, they take 20 images for a double " L " or just the date ... Now that's some details ..............
I look forward to seeing your photos. Feel free to tag me, I miss a lot being in Germany and really only reading new posts.
I'm not sure if you caught what I said based on your response. I see doubling on the top of the 6 and the bottom of the 9. I don't think I'd have seen that with a 10x loupe while searching my pocket change.
I stand in my front window, which faces north, great natural lighting . I can see everything with a 10x, sometimes too much ....
If I had some pictures to match up too, then I would know if they need to be taken + plumb, - plumb, coin facing north, south, east or west . Here's a 64 I have which is coneca DDO-017 . The first image I took blind . Here's the correct way, or the way coneca took it . Here's the link to coneca, so you can see what I'm talking about . http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/1964PDDO017.htm
That's not only what his "list says", but is in fact something he addressed directly to me some years ago, stating that "there are over 100 DDRs for 1964-P alone". The man most certainly isn't lying or making it up, but even if we exclude Wexler from the discussion and use other references, the number of known varieties for this date is still substantial.
This year is a very weak year for " DDO(s) " and it is . " L " doubled, 64 doubled . I can only comment on what the variety sites list . I understand all the listing on wexler site . He love details and should . But he has no descriptions on the DDO varieties , so what else am I suppose to think . As for DDR(s), that wasn't the variety I was talking about..
For the love of god, Rick; it wasn't an insult but a very simple and neutral addition/clarification not even directly intended for you. If you want to argue about it, fine, but I'd like to think you're one of the ever-dwindling few who actually care about those with less experience who may read this interested in what dates/mints offer reasonable opportunity. Even stating it's a "very weak" year for DDOs isn't entirely true, and as independent verification... Coppercoins lists 13 DDOs and 16 DDRS for 1964-P, and 7 DDOs and 12 DDRs in addition to 33 RPMs for the 1964-D. CONECA lists 19 DDOs and 36 DDRs for the 1964-P, as well as 4 DDOs and 15 DDRs, in addition to 18 RPMs for the 1964-D. Wexler lists 42 DDOs and 76 DDRs for 1964-P and 22 DDOs and 44 DDRs in addition to up to 61 RPMs for the 1964-D. Even if info/photos are not provided for all (there are for some), this doesn't mean they do not exist. Even with the understanding a number of the same varieties appear on each listing, were not talking 1979-P here where, at least to the best of my knowledge, no DDOs are known. Again, I was addressing, and only addressing, "varieties" for this "year" and not your specific coin. It wasn't meant to be a peeing contest, but an intended addition; nothing less or more.
I guess I should of just said minor varieties and I'm not arguing, just having a conversion, that's all ...
