1877 Dime DDR or Machine Doubling?

    I'm having trouble telling if this is a DDR or Machine Doubling. Please pay particular attention to the D and the serif of the M in DIME. This isn't my coin so I don't have better images to provide. @Rick Stachowski @furryfrog02 @paddyman98

    As a follow up, there's nothing going on there, just some toning.

    What are your thoughts on the M in DIME (serif) and the N in ONE (left side)? The M looks like a repunch of sorts, but the N looks like MD to me.

    I just had a look at the coin and it's most likely the D reverse. However I don't see the die crack through the date on the obverse. Everything else seems to match the F-104 variety.
