I don't mean to be rude, but that doesn't make any sense to me. What if they are all pennies on top, and all quarters on the bottom? That seems like it would only work if they were all one denomination.
I've got a coin sorter on the way. I think the only way he'll do this is if I offer FACE + a %age. Naturally I'd kick him back some extra $ if I find a really valuable coin. He'll be going under the knife soon, if he can, so I'll offer him something soon. He's such a crochety old cowboy he might just let go and not care about any of this.
I agree. That way its a Win-Win for him. Either he gets more than Face, or exactly (maybe slightly more than face).
Studies show that single loner types are the ones most likely to search rolls and jars. Sounds like he as a new hobby.
This guy has already lost hundreds or thousands of dollars in lost interest or capital gains because he dumped his coins in a bucket and did not invest them like I used to do as a savings plan. Give him face value and that's it. In the unlikely event that you find something of any value (20 years ago the pickings were about the same as today, or maybe even worse) i will just be fair reward for your time spent counting.
Well, it might just be me, but seems rude. He wants you (a friend) to may MORE than face, when his only other option is to take it to CoinStar and get almost 10% LESS than face? I'd be happy if someone took all that off my hands (if I wasn't a searcher) for face, instead of me losing money. I would just say that I would give him face and carry it all away, or he could haul it all to the CoinStar, and lose 10%. In my last comment, I wasn't aware that he specifically wanted more than face, that's why I said 15%. I thought you wanted to give him extra just to be nice. Now that I know more, however, I'd be a little offended if I were you. Make him the offer of face, and if he declines, you can always go buy some rolls and probably find the same thing, like some otheres have said. Either way, please don't let me influence your decision... just seems a little ratty (on his part) to me...
